Berryessa Swim Information

Welcome to the main information page for the 28thAnnual Lake Berryessa one-mile and two-mile swim races.

Here is the basic information on the race:

When: Saturday, June 6, 2009.

Where: The event will be held on at Oak Shores Park off Knoxville-Berryessa Road,on the west shore of Lake Berryessa in northern California.

Races: 1-mile and 2-mile swims (wetsuits and non-wetsuits) for Masters.
1-mileswim for ages 18 and under.
500-yard swim for ages 8-10.

Fees: All entry forms must be postmarked by May 18, 2009 for the reduced entry fees ($30-$50). After May 18, 2009 and race day, registration will cost $10 more. Click here for complete list of registration fees.

Canned Food Drive

In conjunction with the race, Davis Aquatic Masters is sponsoring a canned food drive to benefit the Food Bank of Yolo County. Bring cans of food to the race and help the hungry and possibly win a prize, which will be awarded to individuals and clubs for the most cans of food donated and the heaviest total weight of donations.

Course and Water Temperature

Both the 1-mile & 2-mile courses will be marked by buoys at approximately 200 yard intervals.

The expected water temperature of the lake is between 65-70 degrees.

The 2-mile course will go around "Goat" Island, and the 1-mile course will go around “Flamingo” Island. If you are traveling from the Bay Area, air temperatures are typically 10 to 15 degrees warmer at Lake Berryessa than in the Bay Area.

Post Swim Picnic & Lunch Options

After the swims, Oak Shores Park has traditionally become a picnic Haven. Shade trees, picnic tagbles, barbecue grills, music, and restroom facilities make it a prime location for all to enjoy. Come and make a day of it by the lake.

The Rules

No sale or use of alcoholic beverages, no glass containers and no smoking is allowed in swim area.

All entrants must mail a photocopy of either their USMS or USA Swimming card with the entry form or bring it to the registration table on race day.

Water Safety

Swim caps will be provided to all swimmers and will be mandatory for the swims. If you are not wearing the correct cap color for your wave or if you are not wearing the official cap issued, you will not receive a swim time.

We ask for your cooperation in this matter to assure a fair, accurate, and smoothly run event. The course will be monitored by both safety boats and paddlers.

Individual escorts will not be allowed. A cut-off time will be enforced to ensure that no swimmers will be in the water longer than one hour for the 1-mile swim and two hours for the 2-mile swim.
