Welcome Swimmers
Welcome to the Davis Aquatic Masters (DAM), a Davis, California swim team that is one of the largest U.S. Masters Swim affiliates in the nation.
DAM boasts a membership of some 500 people from all ages and walks of life. DAM members range in experience from beginning swimmers to world champions. Member ages range from the minimum of 18 to those in their 80s.
The organization is dedicated to:
Providing opportunities for masters to swim at hours and locations convenient for members;
Introducing beginners to strokes, language used to describe workout sequences and more in a friendly setting;
Continuing education to improve strokes and swimming efficiency with instruction by crack professional coaches;
Competing in local, regional and national races, including the DAM-sponsored Lake Berryessa Open Water and the Brut Squad events;
Engaging in education projects that promote swimming as a way to stay healthy and live longer.
The dues for 2010 are $47 for regular membership and $42 for Senior members (those over 65). All new members are required to sign up for the Direct Deposit system. Visiting Davis? Drop in at a DAM workout. Guest fee is only $5.

One Hour Swim National Championship 2010
Someone in this crowd of DAM members swam the 1 millionth yard in the One Hour Swim National Championship at the 10 a.m. Sunday workout slot. Since they all swam at the same time, it was impossible to tell which exact swimmer logged the magic million yard. So they all shared a piece of the the prize (the donuts, of course) at the million yard celebration ceremony.

Swimmers Top A Million in One Hour Swim
The pools are empty now. The hour swims have been swum. The official hour swim counters, Coach Stu Kanh and Sharon Blaha, have been staring into their laptop screens and have tallied the final results. For the record, last of the DAM members swam their hour swims somewhat after Noon on Sunday, which stretched out the length of the normally schedule workout.
The FINAL STATS FOR 2010 ARE:
Goal # of Swimmers: 400
2010 TOTAL = 313 (2009 Total = 299)
Goal # of Yards: 1,400,000
2010 TOTAL = 1,082,915 (2009 Total = 1,041,980)
Many thanks to all DAM members who helped compile the total team yards! And all those counters who helped make it happen!

All entries must be submitted this week to count.
Although the results must be officially submitted and tallied by Tamalpais Aquatic Masters in San Rafael, DAM's total yardage should be enough to win the club the One Hour Postal Swim National Championship for the second consecutive year.
