Mission Statement

The mission of the Davis Aquatic Masters (DAM) is to benefit the community through increased physical fitness via swimming, competition, and education about the health benefits of swimming. DAM promotes physical fitness through swimming for all adult members of the community and promotes competition through events open to the community and Northern California.

As a member of U.S. Masters Swimming (USMS) and an active participant in Pacific Masters Swimming, DAM draws on a wide range of expertise and organizational resources to support its programs.

DAM accomplishes its mission with four programs (click each to read more):

1. Swim Conditioning
2. Competition
3. Education and Research
4. Swimming Facilities

Community Service Priorities

With tax-exempt status, DAM is greatly expanding its community service work with the following priorities and projects:

Raise private funds in partnership with the City of Davis and Davis Joint Unified School District to build a 50-meter pool at Community Park.
Expand equipment and instructional resources to help members and others swim more efficiently.
Provide swim training for seniors and people with disabilities.
Introduce swimmers to competition by hosting race events, notably the Lake Berryessa Open Water Swim.
Recognize the contribution of senior swimmers with annual Lillian Rowan Memorial and Steve Carlson Memorial awards.
Educate Davis residents about the relation between swimming and a longer, healthier life.
Educate residents about the benefits of swimming through research in partnership with University of California, Davis.
