Yolo County Food Bank

We're continuing and emphasizing the food drive for the Yolo County Food Bank through February, as well. This year we'd like to fill three donation bins and reach $1,000 in cash donations. The most needed food items are:

  • Canned meat, fish, soup
  • Canned ready-to-eat meals
  • Canned vegetables
  • Peanut Butter (plastic container)
  • Iron rich cereal
  • 100% fruit juice
  • Canned fruit (in juice)
  • Dry beans
  • Enriched rice or pasta
  • Powdered or shelf stable milk
  • Dog and cat food

We've learned the following about the purchasing power of a donated dollar. $1 = 3 meals, $1 = $5.50 in wholesale purchase value, $1 = 7 pounds of fresh produce. That means a $20 donation can be used to purchase 60 meals or  $110 worth of food items or 140 pounds of produce. If you forget to raid your pantry for a non-perishable, you can always drop off a check on your way to practice (payable to YCFB). Let's all act locally.
