Annual Lake Berryessa Swim
Youth and Adult 1&2 Mile Open Water Event
Update: 2021 Event Canceled
The Board has determined not to hold the Berryessa Lake Swim in 2021 due to the significant amount of uncertainty related to many factors including: permitting, PMS sanctioning and participation requirements, facility availability, and economics. The Board is creating an open water swim committee to explore open water swimming options that we can offer for our members this summer. Look for more information in upcoming Monday Messages.Update June 28, 2021
In order to promote open water swimming and unify different members of the team who are already participating in open water training and/or events, the DAM Board of Directors will form an open water swimming committee. This committee will consist of 3-6 DAM team members who are interested in facilitating open water swimming for the club and perhaps assisting with the Lake Berryessa Swim in future years. Initial proposals include: informal open water swims at Lake Natoma and Lake Berreyessa, a Lake Berryessa camp out in September with an informal swim, and/or inter-team races or clinics. If you have not already expressed interest in helping with open water, and would like to be considered for this committee or to help out in some other way, please email Kate Andrup Stephensen (email@example.com
). In addition, if you are already involved in an open water group and would like to share those opportunities with other members, please share that with Kate as well.
The Lake Berryessa Swim is one of the longest running open water swims in America. Join hundreds of other USMS swimmers for the 1-mile and/or 2-mile swim then party/picnic at the lake!
The event is located at Steele Canyon Campground, near the junction of highways 128 and 121. This venue features plenty of off-street parking and campsites available for the weekend. The water is clean, comfortable and the weather is, more often than not, fine!
Fees include swim cap, official Berryessa mug (Mugs guaranteed only for first 300 swimmers to register. Race day mugs subject to availability), post race refreshments & online race results.
USMS races are for adults ages 18 - 80+ years old. USAS races are for teenagers ages 11-19+.
