2020 ONE HOUR SWIM and FOOD DRIVE (in February)As per club history, all DAM members -particularly our newbies - are encouraged to participate in the annual USMS One Hour Swim (OHS) challenge. 2020 offers another two-month format (Jan and Feb) in which to participate. We will promote the event to our competitors in January by setting aside weekend lap swim will be designated for the OHS, none during weekday practices. In February we'll set aside one lane per weekday practice (except Mondays, 7am and 10am) in addition to available lanes per weekend lap swim. The February signup calendar with more details will be at Civic later this month. And, yes, it is a tiring event but that's the real challenge, both physically and mentally. Start planning now.
DAM will supply watches, clipboards and split sheets. Swimmers provide someone to do their counting. If you need a counter for your swim, check the 'Timer Needed' list to see who can work for you, contact them and then put your name down to volunteer for someone else.
Please join us again this year, as DAM hosts a food drive for the Yolo County Food Bank. Over the past 10 years, this event has become our most rewarding community outreach program. Tons of food and thousands of dollars have been generously donated by our DAM members. Again this year we're asking you for a 4 can donation. We want to again challenge our DAM family to uplift other families throughout the region. Especially now that the holidays have ended, but hunger has not.
Because the OHS is a national championship ($7 entry fee), participation earns two points towards the 2018 DAM Grand Prix.
