Head Coach's Message

We’ve been talking about pushing off correctly a lot over the last couple of weeks. Doing a correct push off gets you in the proper position for a tight streamline and is also great practice for an open turn (fly to fly, fly to back, breast to breast, breast to free). A few years back I made a video with some of my swimmers demonstrating a perfect push off (you might recognize them from the pictures on the board). Check out that video here and try to get in the habit of doing a perfect push off every time you leave the wall. Your streamlines and open turns will thank you!

Labor Day Schedule

We will be running the following workouts at Civic ONLY on Labor Day (9/5): 6 am, 7 am, 8 am, 9 am and 10 am. There is no Arroyo workout.

DAM News

As some DAM members have heard, Don Veress, former DAM Head Coach (January 1998 - November 2000), has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma cancer.  He is currently at home and has received two rounds of chemotherapy and is responding very well to the treatment!

His family is extremely busy with his care and has appreciated support over the last month. Don would like to respond to each e-mail or call, but he expresses he does not have the time or energy to do so.  Don is concentrating on enduring the treatments and healing. He does not want folks to worry and requests we send him positive thoughts and prayers. His recovery prognosis is good, however he has a tough path ahead.

DAM Member Lynda Yancher has organized a meal delivery plan for the Veress family. If you are interested in delivering a meal, please contact Lynda (email or text: 530-304-3982). Lynda is also happy to deliver your e-mail or letters of correspondence to Don.

DAM Board Meeting

The next DAM Board meeting will be on Thursday, September 15, at 6:30PM in the Brady Building.
